25,000 skill development centres will be set up across the country : Rudy

Union Minister of state for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent charge) Rajiv Pratap Rudy Friday announced that 25,000 skill development centres will be established at block-level across the country in course of time.

Addressing a press conference after inaugurating Telangana Jagruthi Skill Development Programme under ‘Skill India Machine’ here, Rudy said the government had allocated Rs 32,000 crore under skill development programme to impart technical skills to the youth of the country and of which Rs 12,000 crore was sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), the flag scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

The objective of the skill certification scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood, he said

Out of sanctioned amount under PMKVY, 25 per cent will go directly to the states, but state guidelines are under progress, the Minister said and added that the state guidelines under PMKVY will be completed soon.

Lauding the Telangana Jagruthi, the Minister said the organisation was a shining example in imparting skill development education.

Telangana Jagruthi founder and TRS MP, Ms K Kavitha said that with the inauguration of the main skill development centre in Hyderabad by the Minister, the other 17 centres in Telangana also functioning from today.

Later, Rudy addressed a pubic meeting organised on the grounds of AV college in Ashoknagar area of the city.

Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan, Union Minister of state for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya and BJP State President B Laxman were among the dignitaries who attended the meeting.
