Controversy erupts over Kapil Sharma’s bribe allegation, BMCdescribes construction illegal

As popular stand-up comedian Kapil Sharmaalleged Friday that a BMC official had demanded a bribe of Rs fivelakh, the civic body made a counter claim that he had carried out’illegal construction’ at his office and for which a notice had beenserved on him.
The comedian-turned-actor took to Twitter to narrate hisappalling experience with the country’s richest civic bodyBrihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and even tagged Prime MinisterNarendra Modi in his tweets, asking if this was the “achche din”(good days) he had promised.
Voicing his grievance and raising the issue of corruption,Kapil tweeted this morning, ”I am paying Rs 15 cr income tax fromlast 5 year n still i have to pay Rs 5 lacs bribe to BMC officer formaking my office @narendramodi.”
In another tweet, he referred to Mr Modi’s pre-electionpromise of ‘good days are ahead’ and asked, ”Yeh hain aapke achhedin @narendramodi (are these your good days)?”
Taking cognisance of the matter, Maharashtra Chief MinisterDevendra Fadnavis asked Kapil Sharma to give the name of theconcerned BMC official to the authorities so that action can betaken against the culprit.
”Kapilbhai pls provide all info. Have directed MC, BMC totake strictest action. We will not spare the culprit,” the ChiefMinister said in a tweet.
On this, Kapil thanked Mr Fadnavis and expressed his desire todiscuss this matter with him in person.
However, later in the day, a BMC official claimed that Sharma had made some ‘illegal construction’ at his office in Versova in area of suburban Andheri and had been served a notice in Julyregarding the same, but he did not pay heed to it.
BMC also asked Kapil to reveal the name of the officer whoallegedly demanded the bribe.
