Seven terrorists killed in separate encounters in J&K

In Jammu and Kashmir, in the fierce gun battle with militants in Poonch district, security forces have succeeded in killing three militant Sunday evening while a policeman has lost his life and five persons including four security personnel and a civilian have injured.

According to police sources, the encounter started when acting on an input about the presence of militants, a police party approached the abandoned building in Allah Pir area of Poonch town of this border district around 8 on Sunday morning.

AIR correspondent reports, during almost ten hour long fierce gun battle at two spots in Allah Pir area of this border town, security forces gunned down three heavily armed militants.

A huge quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered from the possession of the slain militants whose proper identity is yet being ascertained.
The firing has stopped but a massive search operation is still going on in the area.

Meanwhile, four terrorists were killed on Sunday as Army foiled three infiltration attempts in Kashmir valley.

The terrorists were trying to sneak into India via the Line of Control (LoC).
According to Army sources in Srinagar, one infiltration bid was foiled in Naugam sector, another in Tangdhar sector and the third one in Gurez sector in the Kashmir valley.

The intruders were challenged by the alert soldiers posted along the LoC in Naugam sector when they noticed suspicious movement.

The militants opened fire at positions of security forces which was “effectively retaliated”, triggering a gunbattle.

War-like stores were recovered from the scene of the gunbattle. The operation is still in progress.

The Operations in Tangdhar and Gurez sectors are also in progress but no casualty is reported so far, according to army sources.
