Controversial Film On Nirbhya Gangrape Incident Goes Viral on YouTube Despite Ban

The Government India’s ban on BBC documentary on December 16 Delhi gang-rape incident seemed to have failed with a video of the film going viral on YouTube.
A communication ministry official said, YouTube and its owner Google have withdrawn the movie late yesterday evening after being asked to do so but several such videos remained available on the website.
One raked up over 100,000 views in less than 12 hours.The banned documentary of Leslee Udwin was uploaded on YouTube and aired by BBC on Wednesday, ahead of its original schedule of March 8, International Women’s Day.
The documentary film on the fatal gang rape of a woman in New Delhi in 2012 has been banned in India over concerns that derogatory comments made by one of the rapists could create an atmosphere of fear and tension.
Leslee Udwin’s “India’s Daughter” features conversations with Mukesh Singh and fellow convicts who raped and tortured a 23-year-old woman on a moving bus in December 2012.
