AIR launches multimedia website & mobile app of Baluchi service

All India Radio Friday launched a multimedia website and a mobile application of its Baluchi services today. Chairman of Prasar Bharti Dr A Surya Prakash launched the website and the Mobile app at the AIR Headquarters in New Delhi this evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Surya Prakash said, AIR broadcasts about 600 hours of radio programmes per week in 15 foreign and 12 Indian languages through External Services Division, ESD reaching out to 150 countries.
He said, the website and app of Baluchi service is launched as part of the modernization efforts of ESD and AIR. He said, the initiative is part of India’s efforts to reach out to the neighbourhood for better people-to-people contact.
Dr Surya Prakash said, AIR always has goodwill among Baloch nationals who have an emotional attachment to it and also consider AIR as an authentic source of information.
He said, ESD has a target of launching web based live streaming and apps for all 27 languages by 31st March next year. He said, as the world’s largest democracy, AIR has the responsibility to disseminate news and information across the world which is factual and correct.
Director General of AIR Fayyaz Sehrayar said, the terrestrial service is continuing since 1974 and the digital outreach is the new initiative. He informed that Ministry of External Affairs has promised AIR to arrange more talent which will enrich the service.
Replying to a question, He said that while AIR does not aim at countering any kind of propaganda, it will challenge falsehoods by presenting the correct information.
The initiative aimed at making the contents and programmes of Baluchi language available at multimedia platforms for easy access of listeners and create a global audience.
External Services Division of AIR broadcast one hour programme in Baluchi language every day which includes news folklore, music and news analysis. esd, presently broadcasts daily in 57 radio transmissions covering over 108 countries in 27 languages. Out of these, 15 are foreign including Baluchi language.
