LG refutes allegations by Mishra, Jain; accuses Delhi govt of politicising issue
17 September, New Delhi
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today strongly refuted charges levelled by Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain and Water Resources Minister Kapil Mishra that he refused to meet them when they came to meet him.
In a statement, the LG office said,” The Lt Governor’s office strongly rebuts charges levelled by Ministers Satyendra Jain and Kapil Mishra. Mr Jain and Mr Mishra came to the Lt Governor’s office at 1145 hrs on 17th September without either seeking prior appointment from the Lt. Governor or intimating him of their visit. The Lt Governor’s office came to know of their visit only through the media gathered outside, who had prior intimation that they were going to visit the Lt. Governor’s office.”The LG office said Secretary to Lt Governor met the ministers since the LG’s office is operational on all days of the week. ”
However, they neither submitted any letter nor gave any representation to the Lt Governor,” it said.
Charging the Delhi Government with politicisng the issue, the LG office said,” It is regrettable that at a time when Delhi is facing such a serious public health crisis, the elected government is choosing to politicise the issue instead of providing succour to the public.””The Lt Governor’s office is keeping a close watch on the health situation in Delhi and is getting regular updates on the situation from the Chief Secretary and Secretary (Health and Family welfare department),” it said.
Mishra alleged that the LG today refused to meet him and Jain when they went to visit him at his office.Sources in the AAP said Mr Mishra and Jain went to Mr Jung’s office this morning to meet him but were not allowed to meet him.
The visit by the two ministers to the LG’s office came after Jung send a communication to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is in Finland to study the education system there, last night asking him to return following the rise in cases of Dengue and Chikungunya in Delhi.
