Venkaiah Naidu launches nationwide week long cleanliness drive

Minister of Information & Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu today launched a nationwide week long cleanliness drive to comeomorate the birth Centinary celebration of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, at Kozhikode, Kerala.
Launching the drive the Minister said, in a bid to reinforce the commitment of every stakeholder to the cause of ‘swachhata’, the government of India is celebrating Swachh Bharat Week from today which is Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Jayanti, to 2nd October 2016, Gandhi Jayanti, with a range of activities planned across the country.
Our correspondent reports that as part of the programme 80,000 wards in the country will have a mass scale social auditing of sanitation tomorrow. On 27 th special cleanliness drive will be carried out in market places, bus stands, across the cities. A mass scale special cleanliness drive will be carried out in hospitals, parks and government offices on 28 th .
School swatchatha day will be observed on 29 th throughout the country. The cleanliness drive is implemented jointly by the Ministries of Urban Development, Rural Development and Railways in collaboration with Education institutions and nongovernmental organizations.
