Former Karnataka Minister reinducted in Cabinet after clean chit in DSP suicide case

26 September, Bengaluru

Former Karnataka Minister K J George was re-inducted into Cabinet by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today. Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the Oath of office and secrecy at a ceremony held in Raj Bhavan with the Chief Minister and several of his cabinet colleagues present.

George is likely to get the same Bengaluru Development and Town Planning portfolio he had held before resigning. He had also served as Minister for Home in the present government. With the reinduction of George, the strength of the Siddaramaiah Cabinet has now touched maximum 34.

George, who had held the Portfolio of Bengaluru Development and Town Planning, resigned on July 18, following pressure from the Opposition and a Court in Madikeri directed Police to register FIR against him and other two IPS officers in connection with alleged harassment by DSP M K Ganapathy before committing suicide on July 7.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on September 17 filed a ‘B’ report in the Coourt and thus gave clean chit to Mr George, stating that there is no concrete evidence.
