Nagaland Govt. Suspends Dimapur DC, SP ,Jail Chief In Lynching Of Rape Accused

Nagaland Government has suspended three senior officials in connection with the lynching of a person in Dimapur on Thursday.

They are Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and Chief of Central Jail, Dimapur. The decision to suspend these officials was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister TR Zeliang Friday.

The Cabinet also decided to take stern action against those involved in inciting, instigating and encouraging the mob for the lynching incident.

The Chief Minister has assured Assam government of necessary action against the culprits. Assam government had also lodged strong protest against the lynching incident, the victim of which belong to Assam. Assam has been put on high alert by the Centre following the incident.

Nagaland government has also ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident. Curfew remained in force in Dimapur where the situation is under control.
