Eminent Journalist Vinod Mehta Passes Away

Senior journalist and editorial chairman of Outlook Magazine Vinod Mehta passed away in New Delhi Sunday . He breathed his last at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS.
Hospital authorities said that Mehta died of multi-organ failure. The 72-year-old journalist was the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine.
One of the eminent journalists of the country, Mehta has been editor of several publications, including Pioneer, The Sunday Observer, The Independent and The Indian Post.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the passing away of Vinod Mehta. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, he was always frank and direct in his opinions and he will be remembered as a fine journalist and writer.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has expressed shock and deep anguish at the passing away of senior Journalist Vinod Metha. In her condolence message, she said, Mehta was a fearless journalist who stood for liberal and progressive values. Mrs Gandhi also said he remained steadfast in his commitment even when the atmosphere was intolerant and adverse.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley has expressed grief over the demise of senior journalist Vinod Mehta. In a tweet, Mr Jaitley said, Vinod Mehta’s death is a loss to journalism and his absence will be felt in every debate.
