Masarat Alam Release Row : J&K BJP MLAs Lodge Protest With CM Sayeed , Demands Re-arrest

BJP MLAs in Jammu and Kashmir Monday lodged a strong protest with Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed over the release of hardline separatist leader Masarat Alam.

They demanded his re-arrest of Alam . The MLAs led by state BJP General Secretary Rajiv Jasrotia met Sayeed at his residence in Jammu and submitted a memorandum.

Jasrotia said the party also sought immediate probe into all pending FIRs against Alam, the challans of which have not been presented. He said the Chief Minister assured them that their concerns would be addressed.

The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party held demonstration in various parts of Jammu town and other parts of the district. Party leader Bhim Singh said that if the BJP is really against the decision of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, to release the separatist leader Masart Alam, then the BJP should immediately withdraw its support from government in the state.

The Shiv Sena activists also held protest in Jammu against the release of separatist leader Masrat Alam by the PDP-BJP alliance government. On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress activists demonstrated in Vijaypur area of Samba District on the issue.
