Assam Records First Swine Flu Death as H1N1 Positive Cases On Rise In India

Swine Flu cases in India are on the rise despite all measures to contain the dreaded H1N1 virus .

The first death due to swine flu has been reported in Assam. State Health Commissioner Manish Thakur said that the death was reported in Jorhat district on Friday.

Following postmortem report, it was confirmed that the patient succumbed to swine flu virus. Thakur said that the patient had also diabetes and hypertension.

In Rajasthan, with the death of nine more people Sunday , death toll due to swine flu has risen to 330 this year.

Maximum 62 people have died in Jaipur, followed by 37 in Ajmer, 30 in Jodhpur, 28 in Nagaur, 22 in Barmer and rest at different places in the state.

According to the health department, the number of swine flu positive cases has however declined in the state, as only 45 people were tested positive of the virus yesterday.

In Andhra Pradesh, two more persons succumbed to Swine Flu during the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 16 since January this year. State health officials told our correspondent that five more persons have been tested positive for swine flu. With this, the total number of persons infected with the virus, has gone up to 128.

Meanwhile, in Telangana also, the total number of persons infected with swine flu, has crossed 1800 with 31 new cases having been reported in the state.
