Noted journalist Dileep Padgaonkar passes away, PM Modi expresses grief

Noted journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, who was a member of the three-member interlocutors group for Jammu and Kashmir, passed away this morning in Pune after brief illness.

72-year-old Padgaonkar, a former editor of The Times of India, was unwell for past several weeks.

He began his career in journalism at the age of 24 and joined Times of India as a Paris correspondent.

The veteran journalist was part of a three-member interlocutors team that was chosen by the Centre in 2010 to have dialogues with various strata of society in Jammu and Kashmir.

P rime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his grief over the death of veteran journalist Dileep Padgaonkar.

In his message, the Prime Minister said, Padgaonkar was a leading public thinker whose contribution to journalism will always be remembered.
