Adani to set up Vegetable oil Refinery unit at Dhamra: Goutam Adani

Adani Wilmar, India’s largest edible oil company, has initiated the planning to set up a 2500 tons per day of vegetable oil refining unit at Dhamra in Odisha .
This unit with a total investment of Rs 700 crore will import crude vegetable oil from Indonesia, Malaysia and Argentina and do the refining in Dhamra, Adani Group Chairman Goutam Adani said while addressing the plenary session fo Make in Odisha here Thursday.
He said the Adani Group’s primary interests are in Ports and Logistics, Developing Industrial clusters and SEZs, Power Generation and Transmission, Integrated Coal Management, Miningand Agri businesses.
“We are leaders in every one of the businesses we operate – and Odisha – with its long coastline and natural resources has become the single most important state in Eastern India for the Adani Group”.
Adani said, ” a little more than two years back we completed the acquisition of the Dhamra port. We turned around the operations and made the port profitable within the first 12 months of taking over and thereafter built and commissioned a massive new berth of 15 million ton capacity.” The Dhamra port, he said had also completed the construction of 2 million tons of barge berth capacity required to enable the movement of coal through the National Inland Waterway 5.
Given Dhamra port’s strategic location this will be a game changer in transportation of coal across the Brahamani River and carry coal from the Talcher region to Dhamra.
Consequentially this will allow for the coastal movement of coal along the entire Indian shore line. This will be best show case for the Government’s national inland waterway plans as well as Sagarmala plans for decongesting rail and road traffic.
Adani further said the construction of a LNG terminal of 5 MMT capacity entailing an investment of Rs 5200 crores and a LPG terminal of 2.5 MMT capacity with an additional investment of Rs 2300 crores had started .
These two terminals will change the face of the Dhamra port and go a long way in helping close the gap on Odisha’s energy requirements and equally importantly support various local ancillary industries.
He claimed that over the next 5 years Dhamra port will become a gateway to the entire Asian region thereby further stimulating the growth of Odisha and sought the help of Odisha government to provide connectivity and infrastructure required to enable development of an industrial park similar to the lines of that built alongside Mundra port in Gujarat.
As per the master plan Dhamra port, he said will have 35 berths with total port capacity of a mammoth 315 million tons which would make Dhamra the largest port and port based industrial cluster in India.
Adani said, “we are in the process of developing a modern Skill Centre at Dhamra that will serve not just the Dhamra Port but also develop many hundred skilled workers who will all become available for several other industries in the region
He said in Odisha the Adani group had invested over Rs 12000 crore and planned to raise this investment even higher to Rs. 15,000 crores and create addition of nearly 10,000jobs within the state of Odisha.
