Jayalalithaa laid to rest with full state honours

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has been laid to rest, with full state honours in Chennai Tuesday.
The last rites of the departed leader were performed by her long term associate Sasikala and other close relatives at MGR Memorial, Marina beach.
The 68-year old AIADMK Chief passed away last night at Apollo Hospital. Following her demise, Ms Jayalalithaa’s body was taken to her Poes Garden residence before being taken to Rajaji Hall. Lakhs of people from all walks of life paid their last respects to the departed soul.
President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid homage to Jayalalithaa by offering flowers at Rajaji Hall in Chennai.
Earlier the President, the Vice President and the Prime Minister expressed grief over the demise of Jayalalithaa. Several Union Ministers and leaders have mourned the death of Jayalalithaa.
Both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day today as a mark of respect to J. Jayalalithaa.
