Karunanidhi undergoes tracheostomy to enable breathing in Chennai hospital

DMK Chief M. Karunanidhi has undergone a tracheostomy procedure Friday to optimise breathing, according to the medical report given by the Executive Director Dr.S.Aravindan of the Cauvery hospital Chennai.
The ailing 93 year old leader had been undergoing more than one ailment. He was admitted to the same hospital for an allergy infection earlier and was discharged just on the 7th of this month.
DMK party had specifically appealed to its cadres not to visit him as he had developed a drug allergy on 25th October. On the 10th of this month, the party had announced that a general council meeting would be held on the 20th of this month chaired by DMK President M.Karunanidhi.
The hospital says that his health condition is stable and a team of doctors are attending to him. The elder son and former Union Minister Alagiri visited his ailing father a few days back. After the sudden turn of events yesterday,his daughter and DMK MP Kanimozhi,her mother Rajathiammal and several senior leaders of the party visited Karunanidhi at the hospital.
The medical bulletin released in the afternoon said that his condition is stable. But still it is an anxious period for the lakhs of DMK cadres as they look forward to seeing their beloved leader on the 20th of this month at the general council meeting.
