Sharad Pawar resigns as president of MCA

Mumbai Cricket Association President Sharad Pawar resigned from the post today, in line with the recommendations of the Justice RM Lodha Committee.

Justice Lodha has recommended that cricket administrators should not be over 70 years of age and must not serve two consecutive terms. MCA Joint Secretary PV Shetty broke the news, after Pawar had called meeting to submit his resignation.

Pawar, who is a former president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), decided to step down after Supreme Court came down heavily on the current BCCI president Anurag Thakur for failing to implement the recommendations of the Lodha Committee approved by the Court.
