Sushma working even from hospital; promises to bring back remains of Indian from Tokyo

Recuperating after a kidney transplant at a hospital here, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today took some time off to respond to the plea for help from the widow of a man who died in Tokyo.

The External Affairs Minister, who is always quick to come to the help of Indians in distress, promised to the family all help to bring back the remains of Gopal Ram who died eight days ago in Tokyo.

”We will bear all the expenses (to bring back the body) and do this without delay,” Ms Swaraj tweeted from bed at AIIMS where she recently underwent the transplant.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal had written to the External Affairs Minister seeking intervention after Radha Debi, wife of Gopal, approached the Commission for help, saying the family was unable to bring the body as they could not bear the financial expenses involved.

Gopal Ram, a 48-year-old resident of Ambedkar Nagar here, had gone to Tokyo in September last year looking for better prospects. He died of a cardiac arrest in the Japanese capital on December 10.
