Jammu based social activist seeks FIR registration against Farooq Abdullah

A Jammu based social activist has sought registration of an FIR against former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah under alleged sedition charges for extending support to Hurriyat Conference and separatists’ ‘Azaadi’ movement.

”By extending support to the Hurriyat and Separatists, Dr Abdullah should be booked under sedition charges and I have moved an application to the Police Station, City here seeking registration of FIR against him,” Mr Sukesh Khajuria, a social activist and former Member of Citizen’s Advisory Committee constituted by J&K Government here told UNI.

He said that in a letter addressed to the concerned SHO Police Station Jammu City action has been sought.

The activist cited excerpts from Dr Abdullah’s controversial speech which he made in Kashmiri language at the 111th Birth Anniversary celebration of his father Sheikh Abdullah on December 5, 2016 at Naseem Bagh near Hazratbal Srinagar.

Mr Khajuria alleged that the former Chief Minister openly sided with the separatists particularly Hurriyat Conference and extended complete support to the separatists in their so called freedom movement.

He further alleged that Farooq even not hesitated to accord backing of his party and workers to Hurriyat’s progression seeking ‘Azadi’.

He also accused the National Conference Patron for persuading party workers to fight for the cause of Hurriyat.

”Utterances made by Dr Abdullah on aforesaid day constitute the offence of sedition which is punishable under Section 124-A RPC and I demand that a formal case should be registered against him,” Mr Khajuria added.
