Police conspiring to prove Rishi murder as UD case: Odisha BJP

24 December, Bhubaneswar

Odisha BJP unit vice- president Sameer Mohanty Saturday alleged that the Commissionerate of Police at the behest of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was conspiring to prove the murder of engineering student Rishi as an unnatural death to protect City Mayor Ananta Jena.

Mohanty told news persons here that since the Mayor was close to the chief minister, the Police had stopped inquiry into the Rishi murder case after describing the death as an unnatural death even before the receipt of the vicera report.

The Police, the BJP leader said, was forced to reopen the case after the sex video allegedly involving the Mayor was circulated in different social and electronic media.

Quoting media report, Mohanty said Police on the basis of the vicera report was preparing a document that Rishi died due to excess consumption of liquor and drug. He said such theory of the police was nothing but a conspiracy to shield the accused and wanted to know whether Rishi died due to excess consumption of liquor and drug or he was made to consume liquor and drug as a part of the conspiracy.

The BJP leader threatened to intensify agitation demanding justice to the family of Rishi and to reveal the truth behind the sex video and its link with the murder. He said the activists of the BJP Mahila Morcha would march in a candle light procession this evening in support of the demand and the party would continue its agitation till the Mayor was removed from his post.

Mohanty expressed concern over Police for not taking the mobile set, lap top and the call records of Rishi’s mobile into the purview of investigation.

The Opposition political parties have demanded resignation of the Mayor and a CBI probe into both the murder of the Engineering student and the sex video scandal stating that police probe will never be fair as Jena was an influential person in the ruling BJD and has close proximity with the chief minister.
