“Will PM resign after 50 days if things don’t improve?”: Mamata

27 December, New Delhi

Describing demonetisation as a ”mega scam”, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee Tuesday wanted to know from Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he would resign from his post owning moral responsibility for not setting things right in 50 days he sought from the people on November 8 when note ban was announced.

”It is just three days when 50 days after demonetisation were going to be completed. If things do not improve, will the Prime Minister resign accepting moral responsibility?” Ms Banerjee said here addressing a joint press conference of Opposition parties, including the Congress.

She said demonetisation was a very serious issue and it had led to collapse of the banking system, and elimination of jobs and growth leaving the framer, small traders, labourers and the common man alike.

The situation is very serious and there was no control, she said.
She wanted to know from the Prime Minister as to why he had promised lifting restrictions if he was not able to fulfill it.
