Odisha To Set Up Mega Sea Food Park , send Project proposal for Center’s approval

With over 470 Km stretch of coast line ,Odiaha Government has decided to set up a Mega Sea Food Park .
According to Industries Department sources, the Sea Food Park would be set up under the revised Mega Food Park Scheme of Government of India.
A detailed project proposal has already been sent to Central Government for in principle approval.
The proposed Sea Food Park would facilitate development of the sea food processing Industry in the state, it said.
According to Sea Food Association of India Odisha produces about 14000-15000 tonnes of shrimps and 6000 tonnes of fishes per annum and Sea food exports from the state have zoomed to Rs 1817 crore in 2013-14.
The proposed Sea Food Park would be set up by State Government undertaking IDCO. The project is being developed through equity contribution from the promoters , financial institution and grant from Ministry of Food Processing Industries and State Government, it said.
Meanwhile the Departmentally related Standing Committee of Odisha Assembly which scrutinized the demands for grants of Industries Department for the year 2015-16 in its report has decried the token provision being made in the Budget estimate and recommended the Government for an additional amount of Rs.1 crore in the Supplementary Budget 2015-16 to facilitate setting up of the Sea Food Park .
The Sources said that IDCO has also planned to set up a Mega Food Park at Dears in the outskirt of capital city Bhubaneswar over an area of 100 acres with an estimated cost of Rs.16.43 crore
