CBI arrested actor turned Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Paul on Rose Valley scam

The CBI Friday arrested actor turned politicianof West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Paul for his allegedinvolvement in the Rose Valley chit fund scam.

The CBI after grilling him for more than four hours in the CGO complex finallyarrested the 58-year-old actor turn politician representing Krishnanagar Lok Sabhaseat in Nadia.Mr Paul had been one of the directors of Rose Valley group in 2011-12and influenced the company to invest in the Bengali films.

Paul also has allegedly taken money from the company several times.The CBI sources said Paul did not cooperate the investigating agencyand was trying to twist the fact.

TMC general secretary Partha Chatterjee condemned the arrest saying theCentral government was pursing vendetta politics to pressurise Chief Minister MamataBanerjee, who is leading the demonetisation issue.
