Sri Lanka Seizes Pass Ports Of 74 Indian Nationals Working In Plywood Factory

Sri Lanka has seized the passports of 74 Indian nationals working in a plywood factory near Colombo since they were found to be working in the country without valid work visas.

The action by Department of Immigration and Emigration in Sri Lanka was taken against the workers for holding tourist visas while working in the country.

A senior official in the department said the passports will be returned to them when they produce return tickets to India. He said, action will be taken against the company for violating the visa norms. The Indian company is registered with Sri Lanka’s Board of Investment.
