Sonia Gandhi Leads Solidarity March To Residence of Former PM Manmohan Singh
12 March, New Delhi
Congress President Sonia Gandhi Thursday led a march of party leaders and activists to the residence of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to express solidarity.
Dr Singh has been summoned as an accused by a Delhi court in the coal scam case. Ms Gandhi, accompanied by Congress Working Committee members, party MPs and office bearers after meeting at AICC headquarters at 24 Akbar Road, started the march to the residence of Dr. Singh on 3 Motilal Nehru Marg.
Talking to media, Ms Gandhi said, the Congress party is outraged at news of summons being served to Dr Manmohan Singh.
She said, Dr Singh is known world over as the man of integrity and probity. Expressing confidence that Dr Singh will vindicated, she said the whole Congress party is fully behind him. She added that Congress will fight it legally.
Dr Singh had expressed confidence Wednesday that he will prove his innocence in a fair trial.
