Odisha FM presents Rs.1,06,911 crore budget for 2017-18,announces several new schemes

Odisha Finance Minister Pradip Kumar Amat Monday presented Rs.1,06,911 crore budget for the 2017-2018 for the state and announced a series of new schemes for development of various sectors and benefit of ST/SC, women, weavers, farmers and women self help groups.

Along with the General Budget, .Amat also presented a separate budget for Agriculture with an outlay of Rs.14,930 crore, which is almost an increase of 100 per cent in compare to the first agriculture budget of Rs.7162 crore presented in the state in 2013-2014.

The Finance Minister claimed that the state’s economy is expected to grow at the rate of 7.94 per cent in real terms and 10.85 per cent in nominal terms during the current fiscal year.He said going by the trends in the external and domestic economic environment,the state’s economy can be expected to grow in the range of 8.5 per cent during 2017-2018.

Among the series of news schemes announced by the Finance Minister are Augmentation of basic Amenities and development of Heritage and Architecture(ABADHA) for holistic development of Puri, Mukhyamantri Sikhya Swastha Mission for the needy and poor patients, Bauxi Jagabandhu Assured Water Supply to habitations(Basudha) for water supply and Urban Transformation Initiative(UNNATI).

Amat said the total administrative expenditure is estimated at Rs.47,465 crore including a provision of Rs.22,000 crore for salaries,Rs.11313 crore for pension,Rs,5000 crore for interest payment and Rs.5117 crore for manitenance of capital assets.

The total Programme expenditure outlay for 2017-2018 will be Rs.57,800 crores including an outlay of Rs.52,800crore for the government sector and Rs.5000 crore for public sector undertakings.BM
