Sonia returns from abroad after medical check up

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has returned home from abroad after medical check up, the AICC said today.Mrs Gandhi, who had left for abroad for a medical check up, returned home last night, with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi also accompanying her, AICC spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.

”Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice president Rahul Gandhi returned last night,”he said.Asked about the health of the Congress president, he said she was fine.”Mrs Gandhi is fine. She is fast on her road to recovery,”he said.

Mrs Gandhi had left for abroad earlier this month for a “routine medical check-up”. Later, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi left on March 16 to join her.With the Congress president and party vice president returning home, party leaders say that they will soon resume political activity.

The Congress party has said that after the return of Rahul, the party central leadership is expected to hold a meeting to review the results of the recent assembly elections which saw the Congress put up a poor show in the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly polls.After the debacle in UP, the Congress vice president had stressed the need for structural changes within the party.
