CM Naidu Launches Andhra Pradesh Infrastructure Mission

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandra Babu Naidu launched AP Infrastructure Mission, one of the seven meant for the integrated growth of the state. Prior to the launching of the missionr, he had prolonged deliberations with the major stake-holders, from India and abroad in Visakhapatnam Friday evening.
Andhra Pradesh Infrastructure Mission would lay out the road map for the state on the developmental front for the next 14 years. After brief presentation of his ambitious plans, the Chief Minister announced that the idea of launching the mission was to make Andhra Pradesh one among the three high performing states in India by 2022, best state in the year 2029 and a leading destination in the world by 2050.
Naidu said despite 36 per cent deficit rainfall, the State could achieve 5.9 per cent growth in the agriculture sector, an impressive achievement for a deficit State. The mission will create world-class infrastructure facilities across the industrial and social sectors, provide excellent global and domestic connectivity and augment the State’s energy capacity.
Speaking on the occasion he said Visakhapatnam has all the natural advantages to be developed as the logistic hub of not only Andhra Pradesh but also the country, as a gateway to Southeast Asia.
Naidu said the State Government would strive to improve the ports, airports, roadways and inland waterways in the State in collaboration with the private sector. He said the infrastructure mission along with the other six missions, shall work in tandem towards realising a single goal of endearing the state claim as top investment destiny in the world.
Chief Minister Naidu said the government is already in the process of launching 140 projects, which include 40 in the transport sector, 20 in tourism and rest industrial corridors.
He said the government is in the process of acquiring land and inviting the private partners to begin the process of development saying that his government has done away with the red-tapism and has been laying red carpet for the investors. Naidu said clearances for all the projects would be given in 21 days through a single window system if the developer submitted all the requisite forms.
AP CM said 18 new ports would come up in the State in nine districts along the coast. The urban infrastructure would be improved with the construction of a new Greenfield State capital and several smart cities. Visakhapatnam would be one of them. The Chief Minister said all the projects would be developed under PPP mode.
The Andhra Pradesh government earlier had signed agreements with the Kakinada Seaports Ltd for the expansion of the Kakinada deepwater port with GVK group, GMR group and Konaseema Power for laying the Kakinada-Srikakulam gas pipeline.
