Pakistan Summons Indian Deputy High Commissioner In Islamabad Over Delay In Trial of Samjhauta Exp, Blast Case

14 March , Islamabad

In a tit for tat attitude ,Pakistan summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad Friday to lodge protest against what they call delay in the trial of 2007 Samjhauta train blast case.

The move comes hours after India called in Pakistani envoy in New Delhi to lodge a strong protest over a court order to release LeT terrorist and Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.

External Affairs Ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said, orders to release Lakhvi go against Pakistan’s professed commitment to combat terrorism, including its recently stated policy of not differentiating amongst terrorists.

Akbaruddin said, if such a person, who is also a designated international terrorist by the United Nations, is released, it would pose a threat that cannot be ignored.
