Center Asks States To Ensure Treatment And Speedy Compensation To Acid Attack Victims

The Union Government has asked the States to ensure medical treatment and speedy disbursal of compensation to acid attack victims.

Union Home Secretary, L C Goyal and Health Secretary B P Sharma jointly reviewed the efforts made by the States to the welfare of acid attack victims at a meeting in New Delhi with Chief Secretaries and concerned Secretaries of the States.

An official release said, the Health Secretary advised the states to provide medical treatment with special focus on acid attack victims. Shrama also offered capacity building of State Government doctors in Plastic Surgery at specialized institutions.

There was a consensus in the meeting to handle such cases with full sensitivity and streamline the current process for speedy and timely disbursal of compensation money including medical treatment of the victims.
