An FIR has been registered against BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in Guwahati Saturday following his alleged derogatory comment against Assamese people and a particular religion.

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti and All Minority Students Union filed complaint in Guwahati against Swamy. The BJP leader said that mosque is only a building where prayers are being offered but not a religious place.

Swamy said he is ready to debate on this issue. Several political and youth organizations have condemned the comments made by Swamy and demanded his arrest. He also allegedly made derogatory remarks against Assamese people on the issue of land swap deal with Bangladesh.

Reacting on it, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that the BJP will have to pay price for hurting the sentiment of Assamese people.
