BJP Opposed Subramanian Swamy’s Mosque Remark

The BJP has opposed the mosque remark made by Subramanian Swamy in Guwahati on Saturday.
Asam BJP Spokesperson Hiten Goswami said that the party never supports such statement. He said that state BJP leadership has already written to the party President Amit Shah over this issue. Goswami said that Swamy had not come Guwahati on any party activities.
Meanwhile ,FIRs have been lodged against Swamy in Guwahati following his remark.
However, Swamy claimed that he is ready to debate on this issue. He also allegedly made derogatory remarks against Assamese people on the issue of land swap deal with Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, protest continues in Assam on second day on Sunday against Swamy. Several organizations have demanded arrest of the BJP leader. Asom Gana Parishad also condemned Swamy’s remark. Asom Gana Parishad said that there is no place of communal politics in Assam.
All Assam Minority Students Union and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti also demanded action against Swamy. Opposing the remark, State BJP has written a letter to Party President Amit Shah on this issue.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Sunday said that his government will not allow communal leaders or parties to enter the state and allow them to hold meeting and make everything communal to destabilize the state before the ensuing assembly poll in 2016.
The Chief Minister said this on the sidelines of a function in Jorhat that in a state like Assam where diverse communities live together giving communal comments is a big crime.
His comment came following the recent Guwahati visit of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and making controversial statement that Mosque is only a building where prayers are being offered but not a religious place and can be demolished.
Gogoi said the government has stopped communal leaders like Tagodia who was trying himself to establish Hindutwa in state, adding further that any person who tries to prove himself as a particular community will not be allowed in Assam. Assam Home Commissioner L R Changsan said that government will keep an eye on the visit of leaders if apprehension would be there that such visit may create trouble in the state. She said, the government will ensure that Subramanian Swamy would not make any derogatory comments.
