Nitish accepts BJP challenge, says prepared for snap poll in Bihar if UP also opted for same
12 June, Patna
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today accepted challenge of BJP for snap poll, saying he was prepared to hold assembly poll in Bihar, if BJP also opted for the same in Uttar Pradesh and all NDA MPs of both the states resigned, paving way for Lok Sabha by-polls on vacant seats.
Mr Kumar, in his interaction with media persons after ‘Lok Sambad’ programme organised here, said that he was prepared to hold mid-term assembly poll in Bihar as demanded by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Keshav Prasad Maurya but UP should also go for mid term poll simultaneously.
All the NDA MPs in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh should also resign to pave the way for Lok Sabha by-polls in both the states, he demanded.
The Chief Minister, while making oblique reference to challenge of Mr Maurya, said it was surprising that such kind of demand was being made. Such demands were in fact not worth being taken notice, he remarked.
As it is, Mr Maurya while addressing a function here yesterday to mark three years tenure of Narendra Modi government, had challenged Chief Minister Mr Kumar to go for mid term assembly poll in Bihar if he was really confident of serving well the people of the state as head of grand alliance government.
Apart from JD(U), RJD and Congress are also constituents of the grand alliance government in Bihar which was voted to power in 2015 state assembly elections.
