Rahul to travel abroad to meet his grandmother

13 June, New Delhi

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will be travelling abroad to meet his maternal grandmother.Taking to twitter, Gandhi said, ”will be travelling to meet my grandmother and family for a few days.

Looking forward to spending some time with them!”Rahul’s latest trip comes soon after the meeting of the Congress Working Committee, the highest decision making of the party, approved the schedule for the organisational elections of the party, which will culminate in the election of the party President between September 15 to October 15.

The CWC decision paves way for Rahul’s elevation to the post of party President, a demand that has been made by many senior leaders of the party. The recent weeks have also seen Rahul attack the ruling NDA Government for its anti-farmer policies and for its failure to fulfill the promises made by the Modi Government during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Gandhi recently visited Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh to meet the kin of farmers who died in police firing in the area. He was, however, stopped from entering the area and later arrested when he insisted on meeting them. The Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had last year left for London on a private visit, on the New Year weekend.
