Odisha to formulate policy to create more livelihood in rural and urban areas

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today advised the officials to formulate plan and policy to create interest among the students for higher education and research in science.

Presiding over the first governing Council meeting of the Science and Technology here, Patnaik said the policy should be formulated to create more livelihood in rural and urban areas, increase the agriculture productivity and to help reach medicare facilities to the people smoothly at a cheap rate.

He said the fruits of good governance could also reach the people residing at the bottom of the society through the application of science and technology.The meeting stressed on the development of favourable environment for creation of human capital for research and innovation in relevant sectors.

The Council passed a resolution to create five thematic divisions which included Agriculture, Water, energy, environment, Research and Development, Start Up, innovation and consultancy, science education and communication, intellectual property rights and patent, rural technology, transfer of technology and social development, Health services, biotechnology and environment.

The meeting resolved that the Council will function as a point of convergence for Science and Technology activities in the state.It was decided to set up four more science centres at Keonjhar, Jeypore,Gopalpur and Khandapada in addition to the existing one at Tukurula in Baragarha district.BM
