Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with religious fervour & enthusiasm

id-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in various parts of the country on Monday. The faithfuls attired in their best thronged Eidgahs and mosques to offer Eid prayers.
In Jammu & Kashmir, lakhs of devotees attended congregational Eid prayers in Eidgahs, Masjids and Shrines across the State where scholars and clerics threw light on the significance of the festival of thanksgiving. The biggest gathering of devotees was held at historical Eidgah in old Srinagar and Hazratbal Shrine on city outskirts overlooking Dal lake.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh extended Eid greetings to the children, youth and elders of Kashmir.
Talking to a News Agency in New Delhi, Mr Singh expressed confidence that this festival of humanity will bring peace, tranquillity and friendship in the Valley and spark a new ray of hope in the region.
Ignoring moderate rain at Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow, devout Muslims, dressed in their best attires participated in the special prayers at different Idgah and mosques.
In Delhi, main congregations were held at Jama Masjid, Fatehpuri Masjid and Shahi Eidgah. Speaking on the occasion, the Imams, who led the prayers appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony and prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country.
Eid was celebrated in Meghalaya with the faithful offering special prayers at various Id-gahs across the State.In Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya, large number of people, attired in traditional regalia thronged the beautiful glass-made Madina Masjid located in the Laban locality to offer namaz.
The Islamic followers in Nagaland on celebrated their biggest festival Eid Ul Fitr with mass prayers, exchanging greetings, gifts and feasting.In Kohima, Eid Ul Fitr the Muslim community celebrated the main festival at the Kohima Jama Masjid, where thousands of Islamic followers joined the mass prayers.
In Dimapur also mass prayers were held in two separate mosques.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Governor P B Acharya while greeting the Muslim community in Nagaland on the occasion of Eid Ul Fitr, expressed the hope that the sacred occasion will usher-in good will and further strengthen the values of composite society.
Reports of Eid celebrations have also come in from other parts of the country.
