Gujrat RS Polls :Cong approaches EC, demands cancellation of votes of 2 party MLAs

The Congress Tuesday approached the Election Commission and demanded that votes be cancelled of two party MLAs in Gujarat who said that they voted for the BJP in the Rajya Sabha polls and publicly showed their votes to BJP chief Amit Shah.
Talking to reporters here, AICC media incharge Randdep Surjewala said, “We demanded that the EC declare invalid the votes of the two Congress MLAs who said that they voted for the BJP and showed their votes to BJP president Amit Shah.”
Terming the action by the two Congress MLAs as contrary to the rules, Surjewala demanded that their votes be declared invalid.”The EC should see the video which shows the two Congress MLAs showing their vote to Mr Amit Shah.
As per rules, it should declare their votes as invalid,” Surjewala said.AICC spokesperson R P N Singh, who was also accompanying Surjewala, said they had presented their petition to the EC and it was now up to the poll watchdog to act as per the rules.
Elections to the three Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat were held today with Ahmed Patel of Congress contesting from one of the seats.
However, his election to the Rajya Sabha has become mired in uncertainty with the a series of defection from the Congress ranks ahead of the RS polls. The Congress has, however, expressed confidence over the victory of Patel.
