Badminton: PV Sindhu to play in final of World Championships 2017

In Badminton, ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu will be playing in the Final of World Championships 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland, today.

Rio Olympics Silver medalist Sindhu will take on 7th seeded Japanese Nozomi Okuhara in the summit clash. Sindhu and Nozomi have faced each other 6 times so far, with each winning 3 matches.

Last night, in the semi finals of women’s singles event, 4th seeded Sindhu thrashed her Chinese opponent Chen Yu Fei in straight games 21-13, 21-10. With this she has assured at least a Silver medal for India. She is twice the Bronze medal winner in previous World Championships event.

In this event, Nozomi has defeated Rio Olympics Gold medalist Carolina Marin in the quarterfinals and resurging Saina Nehwal in the semi-finals.

Saturday, Saina had to be content with a Bronze, after losing semi finals.
