CBI files 39 th FIR In Coal Block Scam case

The CBI has registered an FIR against unknown officials of Karnataka Power Corporation and others in coal block allocation case.

The agency is conducting searches in Bangaluru, Kolkata, New Delhi and Nagpur in this regard.

FIR has been registered under various sections of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act. It is alleged that the officials of the Corporation showed undue favour to the joint venture partner.

They deliberately ignored and overlooked the condition of the joint venture regarding the quality of the coal and thereby caused huge pecuniary benefit to the private partner.

The joint venture company conspired with the private company engaged in washing of coal and sold the rejects of coal washery in violation of Coal Ministry guidelines.

This is the 39th FIR in the coal block allocation case. The other companies against whom the FIR has been registered include Karnataka EMTA Coal Mines Limited and Gupta Coalfields and Washeries Limited.
