Union Cabinet Nod 33 % Reservation For Women In Police forces Of Delhi, UTs

Union Cabinet Friday has approved 33 percent reservation for women in police forces of Union Territories, including Delhi.

A decision in this regard was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi this evening.

Highly-placed sources said that the reservation will be applicable to the post from constables to Sub Inspectors. The decision is significant for women empowerment. Increased presence of women in the police forces will help improve women security in the country.

The Union Cabinet also gave its approval for the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana for skill training of youth in the country. The scheme will be implemented by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship through the National Skill Development Corporation with an outlay of 1, 500 crore rupees. It will cover 24 lakh persons across the country.

According to an official release, the training will be based on the National Skill Qualification Framework and industry led standards. Under the scheme, 150 crore rupees have been made exclusively for training of youth from the North-East region.
