I&B Ministry Asks TV News Boradcasters Not To Cover Live Anti-Terrorist Operations
21 March, New Delhi
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has once again asked news broadcasters to restrict the live coverage of anti terrorist operations in the country.
In its Advisory, the Ministry said that even in past it issued advisories to television channels not to focus on or report location strength, movement, and others about security forces engaged with terrorists to avoid any adverse impact on the operations, in the interests of national security.
However, despite this fact, it was noticed again Friday that some television channels covered live ongoing anti-terrorist operations in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The I&B Ministry’s advisory comes at a time when the Home Ministry conveyed to it that the Home Ministry is of the view that there should be suitable restrictions and guidelines related to live media coverage of security operations.
