12-member MNF govt headed by Zoramthanga assumes office in Mizoram

Aizawl, December 15:

Mzoram,Saturday , Zoramthanga, President of regional party Mizo National Front (MNF) has been sworn in as the Mizoram Chief Minister Saturday . In all, 12 council of Ministers have taken oath of office.

After Swearing-in ceremony Chief Minister Zoramthanga told media that combating alcoholism and drug addiction would be one of the top priorities of the MNF ministry.

Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan has administered the oath of office to the Chief Minister and other council of Ministers at Raj Bhavan in Aizawl.

In November 28 election to the 40-member state legislative Assembly, MNF came out with landslide victory bagging 26 seats.

Congress has reduced to 5 seats, BJP first time opened its account with one seat and Independents bagged 8 seats.

AIR Correspondent reports earlier on the day, Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan has administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Zoramthanga and 11 other council of Ministets at Raj Bhavan this afternoon. Immediately after oath taking, distribution of portfolios amongst the Ministers has been made. C

hief Minister Zoramthanga has kept in his hand finance, planning, Public works etc departments.

Deputy Chief Minister Tawnluia will hold charge of public health engineering, urban development etc, and Mr. Lalchamliana has become Home Minister.
