Cabinet clears Gaganyaan project to send 3-member crew into space

New Delhi, December 28:

The Union Cabinet Friday approved the Gaganyaan project under which a three-member crew will be sent to space for at least seven days, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

The project will cost Rs 100 billion, he said at a press conference here.

ISRO’s Gaganyaan will help India become the fourth nation to independently send humans to space.

The announcement of the Gaganyaan project was first made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on India’s 72nd Independence Day – his fifth and final address ahead of the next general elections.
