Two Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested In Nadia Nun Gangrape Case

A local court of Nadia district in West Bengal Thursday remanded Sikander Sheikh alias Salim to 14 days police custody in connection with recent gang rape to a nun inside a convent school. He was arrested from Mumbai last night.

The Inspector General of CID (Operations) Dilip Adak told media persons in Kolkata this afternoon that Salim has confessed his involvement in the crime.

Meanwhile, the CID has also arrested Gopal Sarkar from Habra in North 24 Paraganas district in connection with the incident.

He will be produced before the court tomorrow. Adak said that both the arrested persons are Bangladeshi nationals. Sarkar gave shelter to the culprits who committed the heinous crime.

This is the first arrest after the incident which occurred on 14th of this month. The West Bengal Government initially ordered a CID investigation on the matter but later decided to hand over the probe to CBI after massive public outrage in the country and abroad.
