Director General IAEA Meets PM Modi, Appreciates India’s Progress In Nuclear Science

Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA Yukiya Amano called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday.

During the meeting, Modi lauded the IAEA for its contribution to the promotion of safe and secure use of atomic science for peace and development in the world goals that India shared.

An official release said, the Prime Minister also conveyed to Amano that he considered nuclear energy to be vital for supporting economic development in India, meeting the energy needs of people and addressing the challenge of climate change.

He also reiterated India’s commitment to maintaining the highest global standards of nuclear safety and security.

Amano also appreciated India’s progress in nuclear science and technology, commitment to the highest levels of safety and its assistance to neighbouring and other countries in the peaceful and developmental aspects of nuclear science.
