Tamilnadu To Implement Indradhanush Vaccine Scheme In 8 Districts From April 7

The Indradhanush vaccine scheme will be implemented in eight districts of Tamilnadu including Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatore and Madurai.

Special camps will be held in these districts for a week from April 7 according to state Health Minister C Vijayabhaskar.

The special camp for Indradhanush vaccine will be targeting children below two years of age in Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Coimbatore, Kanchipuram, Tirunelveli, Vellore, Tiruvallur and Virudhunagar districts of Tamil Nadu.

Vaccines will be given against seven diseases like polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, childhood tuberculosis, measles and Hepatitis B.

201 priority districts all over India are targeted for Indradhanush vaccine scheme selected on the basis of lower percentage of vaccination.

All arrangements are being made in Anganwadi centres, primary health centres and vaccine centres to give vaccination to children and tetanus vaccine injections to pregnant mothers.

The aim of the scheme is to raise the vaccination percentage to atleast 90 per cent and save children from deadly diseases.
