BJP Slams WB Govt. For Alleged Suicide of Patato Growers

The BJP has criticised the West Bengal government for the alleged suicides of potato growers in the State.

Party’s National Secretary and in charge of West Bengal affairs Siddharthanath Singh blamed the policy of the Mamata Banerjee led government for the alleged suicide of at least 17 potato growers.

He said that the farmers faced difficulties as the State government banned exporting of potatoes to other places.

Singh said that other potato growing States did not face this problem as they took timely decision to export potatoes with the help of Central government.

Earlier, a delegation of the BJP led by Singh visited Singur, Nalikul, Pursura in Hooghly district and had talks with the farmers.

The ruiling Trinamul Congress supporters showed demonstration and black flag to the delegation at Nalikul and Pursura for alleged politicising the issue . . Surinder singh Aluwalia MP and State BJP President. Rahul Sinha were part of the delegation.
