Swearing-in ceremony of LGs of newly carved out UTs of J&K and Ladakh, tomorrow

New Delhi, October 30:

All arrangements are in place for swearing in ceremony of Lieutenant Governors of two new Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The two UTs will be carved out of the State of Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow in line with August 5th decision of the Parliament. On that day, Parliament also took a decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution, giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Lieutenant Governor-designate Radha Krishna Mathur will take over as the administrator of the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Ladakh is filled with festive atmosphere a day ahead of becoming Union Territory. It will have the status of Union Territory  with swearing in ceremony of the Lieutenant Governor which is slated for tomorrow morning.  Lieutenant Governor designate Radha Krishna Mathur and Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice Gita Mittal have arrived in Leh this morning.

At a traditional reception,  Mr R K Mathur was received by the CEC Gyal P Wangyal, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and senior officials at airport.

According to AIR,a day ahead of swearing in ceremony, Designate  Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh R K Mathur and Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice Gita Mittal have arrived in Leh. Jammu and Kashmir State is being  converted into two Union Territories from Thursday. Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Union Territory R K Mathur will be sworn-in on Thursday morning at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra, in Leh.

Later, Chief Justice Gita Mittal will fly to Srinagar to administer oath of office to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor designate Girish Chandra Murmu.
