CAG should be catalyst of good governance, says PM Modi

New Delh, November 21 :

Prime minister Narendra Modi Thursday said Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) should be a catalyst for good governance.

Modi said, the organization should not be limited to just statistics and procedures.

Addressing Accountants General and Deputy Accountants General in New Delhi, Modi said, CAG acts as a mirror to governmental agencies and shows them their shortcomings.

He said, CAG has played an important role in the outcome-based, time-based approach to work process in the country.

Prime minister said, as India is moving towards becoming an economic power of five trillion dollars, CAG and AGs have an important role in it.
