Jharkhand: Campaigning for 1st phase of assembly elections ends
Ranchi, November 28 :
Campaigning for the first phase of Assembly elections in Jharkhand, came to an end Thursday.
13 constituencies spread over six districts, Chatra Palamu, Gumla, Garhwa, Latehar, and Lohardaga will go to polls on Saturday.
All constituencies fall under Naxal infested area. Our correspondent reports that the Election commission has made elaborate arrangements for polling officials to ensure free and fair polls.
Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Chaubey told AIR that out of 4,892 booths, polling officials of over 1250 polling booths have been already sent to their respective booths due to security reasons.
The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to polls in five phases between 30th November and 20th December.
Counting of votes will be taken on December 23.
